How would your headquarters look?

"Imagine your budget has no limit. If your company owned a space, what would it be?"
I ask my clients this question when working on (re)branding projects that include web design.
How does seeing brand design through architecture help us?
01.
Architecture helps you find the right vibe
Architecture, through its functionality and aesthetics, creates a deeply emotional experience. We talk about how we feel in a building or a park, without any professional knowledge of neuro-architecture (the intersection of neuroscience and architectural design).
Both Sagrada Família and Kölner Dom are cathedrals. Do they evoke the same emotions? ↓

02.
Architecture suggests symbols and shapes
If you build a deep tech B2B product with a made-up name, it may be hard to find a unique visual throughline for your brand identity. And you don’t want to have a saying-nothing style that will equally work for your competitor!
That’s where the shape of your name comes into play. And then, the space you choose as an answer to the question above will give us additional inspiration for visual language.
03.
It's a metaphor for web design
Thinking about your website as a city or a building helps us understand the purpose of all three layers of the website: information architecture, UX flows and UI styling. Visualising this city or building gives us a North Star to follow.

Take a minute this weekend to think:
If your company owned a space, what would it be?
Until next week,
