If a blog was a movie… ⋅ EV #003
One day your company blog may enter the next-level game. It will happen when
- a few team members start writing regularly, creating a high content load and a beautiful chaos of styles and topics
- as part of rebranding, your casual blog transforms into a curated brand space
- a content strategist you just hired asks you all the tricky questions about the brand voice and ideal perception.
The changes that follow will vary from a lightweight redesign (for example, editorial imagery system and content guidelines) to giving your blog a sub-brand with its own name and visual identity.
Here is one question that will help you kick off the conversation about the style and vibe of your brand blog:
“Every movie makes an impression and leaves an aftertaste. If your blog was a movie, which movie would it be? What is the exact aftertaste that makes you choose this movie?”
Ask your team this question and share answers. Ask why people chose these movies. You’ll be surprised how teammates’ views on your company content uncover the facets of your brand you haven’t looked at before.
Watch these movies over the next weekends. Get lost in their vibes. It will give you extra energy and clarity for working on your project over the upcoming weeks.
And next time you write an article, remember these movies: Are you building the aftertaste you aim for?
See you next week,
Ira
P.S. This exercise is good for any company’s media project that focuses on long-form content — blogs, podcasts, and even events.
